Location

Located in the south west of Scotland, the site lies some 12 miles south east of Lockerbie and 23 miles east of Dumfries, near the villages of Waterbeck and Eaglesfield. The villages are surrounded by attractive open countryside and are convenient for access to the M74, M6 and the local towns of Carlisle, Annan and Lockerbie. The surrounding area is popular for walking and cycling.

Directions

Leaving the M74 at J19 (Ecclefechan) take the B725 to Waterbeck and continue in a north easterly direction on the B722. On leaving Waterbeck, turn right onto an unclassified road leading to Gair. Continue on this road and after the sign for Gair, turn left and continue past Kennedy’s Corner and Wallacehill. High Stenries Farm is the next turning on the right. Follow the farm track to park at the farm buildings. Then on foot follow the footpath leading from the buildings in a southerly direction entering a wooded area and crossing a burn. Description
