Location

Helmsdale is a village on the east coast of Sutherland. It lies on the main A9 trunk road north and also benefits from a railway station. It is approx. 68 miles north of Inverness and 35 miles south of Wick. Originally formed during the Highland Clearances and once a thriving herring port Helmsdale is enjoying a resurgence of visitors due to the popular North Coast 500 route which runs through it on the A9. The site faces directly onto the A9 on the north side of the River Helmsdale and on the west side of the road in between Sutherland Street and Strathnaver Street.

Description

The site previously traded as a filling station with a small kiosk unit. Redevelopment has not yet been started but planning consent has been granted in January 2016 for a new filling station development (Highland Council planning ref: -15/4195/FUL). It is currently laid to hardstanding with the old pumps and kiosk still in situ.

The fuel tanks are situated in the south end of the site. Alternatively, the site could potentially be suitable for a different development subject to obtaining the necessary planning consent.
