SVA Property Auctions

What do we do and who we are

SVA Property Auctions was established in January 1999 as Scotland's only locally based firm of property auctioneers. We hold a regular programme of auctions, usually 5 or 6 per year, with the majority being conducted in Glasgow. The auctions offer both Commercial and Residential property as well as land and other development opportunities, all located throughout Scotland.

The business has expanded steadily in recent years with the firm increasing not only the number of lots offered - now between 200 and 250 each year - but also the amount raised, culminating in 2007 with disposal proceeds exceeding £18.4 million. This included the sale of the largest individual lot ever sold under the hammer in Scotland. The Uphall Depot, Nr Livingston which sold at the November 2007 auction for £3.8m. The firm's average disposal rate is consistently between 85% and 95% placing us well to the fore in the UK national performance figures.

Our client base also continues to expand and become more diverse, which is reflected in the broad spectrum of properties we offer. Whilst acting for a number of key Government and public sector clients such as Scottish Water, Fife Council, Defence Estates, BRB (Residuary) Ltd and Scottish Enterprise, SVA also offers property for a number of privatised companies and those which have acquired Government occupied property portfolios. These clients include ScottishPower, BT plc, Telereal and LandSecurities. UK banks, offering both their own surplus accommodation as well as re-possessions regularly participate in our sales along with other financial organisations.

At the other end of the spectrum, and often accounting for at least 40% of the lots on offer are individuals and small property companies. To service this increasing interest in selling at auction SVA Property Auctions has expanded both its staff numbers and the locations at which team members are based.

Based in the Edinburgh office and founder of the firm, Shaun has over 24 years experience of both the Scottish property scene and auction sales, having been involved with the re-introduction of this method of sale to the Scottish marketplace in 1984. Nicola Currie - (Senior Surveyor)
