SVA Property Auctions was established in January 1999 as Scotland’s only locally based firm of property auctioneers. Since then we have held a regular programme of auctions, usually 5 or 6 per year, from venues in both Edinburgh and Glasgow. The auctions offer both commercial and residential property as well as land, together with other development opportunities, all located throughout Scotland.

The business has progressed steadily in recent years with the firm increasing the value of the individual lots sold and we have now raised over £178million for a broad range of clients. The firm’s average disposal rate is consistently around 85%, placing us well to the fore in the UK national performance figures.

Our client base also continues to expand and become more diverse, which is reflected in the broad spectrum of properties we offer. Whilst acting for a number of key Government and Public Sector clients such as Scottish Water, Transport Scotland, Fife Council, Perth and Kinross Council and Scottish Enterprise, SVA also offers property for a number of privatised companies and those which have acquired Government occupied property portfolios. These clients include ScottishPower plc, SSE plc, BT plc, and Telereal Trillium. UK banks, offering both their own surplus accommodation as well as

repossessions regularly participate in our sales along with other financial organisations and Insolvency Practitioners.

At the other end of the spectrum, and often accounting for at least 40% of the lots on offer are individuals and small property companies who have come to appreciate the benefits of auction sales and the personal service offered by the SVA Team.

Our People

To service an increasing interest in selling at auction SVA Property Auctions has expanded both its staff numbers and the locations at which team members are based.

Shaun Vigers
BSc MPhil (Planning)

Director

Based in the Edinburgh office and founder of the firm, Shaun has over 37 years experience of both the Scottish property scene and auction sales, having been involved with the re-introduction of this method of sale to the Scottish marketplace in 1984. Taking his first turn at the rostrum in 1994, he has now conducted circa 150 auctions.

Nicola Currie

Senior Surveyor

Formerly with both North and East of Scotland Water Authorities as well as their successor organisation, Scottish Water, Nicola originally trained as a Rural Practice surveyor. Based in Edinburgh she has broad experience in all types of both commercial and residential property. Nicola is involved with all the main aspects of the firm’s business. She is a member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors

Richard Everitt

Senior Surveyor

Richard, who is based in Dumfries, joined us in summer 2007 from Scottish Water following a career in both the public and private sectors covering a wide range of disciplines. Involved as the client for the first ever sale of water board assets in 1998, Richard has ‘jumped the fence’ and is now handling a wide range of both public sector and private client instructions.

Donna Hood

Auctions Administrator

Donna joined SVA shortly after the company was set up, moving from receptionist to her current role in 2004. A familiar face on the day of the auction Donna’s principal roles include all organisational aspects of the auctions, co-ordinating instructions and legal paperwork with vendor’s solicitors and dealing with client money.

Morven Bruce

MLM Property and Business Services

Based just south of Inverness, Morven has been involved with each of the SVA auctions since the firm was established. Initially dealing with inspections in the north and handling the post auction sales table, Morven took her first turn at the rostrum in autumn 2004 and is now firmly established as Shaun’s associate auctioneer. Running her own property related business as well Morven is well placed to handle work in the north and north-west of Scotland. She is a member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors

David Silcocks

David Silcocks Chartered Surveyors and Valuers

Based at Alford, to the west of Aberdeen, David runs his own business and provides extensive support to SVA covering auction work, valuation and estate management services. Having worked in the north-east of Scotland for 23 years he is well placed both in terms of knowledge and location to cover instructions in this area of the country. He is a member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors
