Barthol Chapel is 2 miles off the A947 Aberdeen to Banff road (from which it is signposted). On entering the settlement, turn right and travel for 250 metres up an incline passing the School and Church and the site is on the left hand side, upon which there is a small reservoir surrounded by a grass embankment. The site extends to approximately 50 square metres, of which the majority of approximately 45 square metres is enclosed by fencing and the remainder includes a part of the roadside verge. The enclosed area is roughly rectangular in shape with approximate dimensions of 7.5 metres x 6.0 metres; it is enclosed along each boundary by a timber post fence, part post and rail and part post and wire. Within the site is a small concrete water tank, around which is a grass embankment; the tank will extend below ground level and has two padlocked plastic access hatches in its roof.
