This is an irregular shaped area of land extending to approx. 1,387 sq.m. There are two main buildings on the site: The schoolhouse to the north was built as a primary school for girls’ education and completed in 1839, the hall to the south was built in 1847, being added as a larger co-educational free church school. Both are Category C Listed. In more recent years the buildings have been used for nursery education and community use. The schoolhouse (north block) comprises a T shaped, traditional cottage style, single storey building with wide eaves and multi pitched roof. Internally, the accommodation extends to entrance with toilet, cloakroom and storage areas, main teaching hall, through to kitchen and three further rooms on the north side of the building. There is a fire exit on the north east corner of the building and a further door leading outside from the kitchen (currently blocked off). The hall (south block) is a broadly rectangular, single storey traditional building under pitched slate roofing. It is currently accessed by a door on the north west corner. There is one large main hall, kitchen, toilet and storage areas. It is set over two levels and there are steps leading down into the main hall from the hallway at this side entrance. There is another doorway on the south east side of the building which would have at one time been the main access door. Due the nature of the floor levels, this is quite a tall building and the main space benefits from high ceiling height and windows on all external walls. There is a store/garage on site situated between the north and south blocks. This is a small rectangular building extending to 5.5m x 2.8m internally and it has two small extensions at either end which are currently inaccessible. This may have been a toilet/changing block at one time. There is mains gas serving the site. All the buildings have been vacant for some time and are now in need of refurbishment and upgrading. The site is demarcated by an attractive stone wall to the front adjoining the public road and a mix of fencing and hedging along the remaining boundaries. There is a surfaced playground area to the front of the buildings and a well maintained area of garden ground lying to the north west of the site. The title also includes an area of sloping ground lying to the south east of the site, this is currently overgrown. The site is easily accessed from the main road and is adjoined to the north and west by grazing land, to the east by the public road and to the south by residential properties. This is an easily accessible site in an attractive village setting which may be suitable for building conversion or redevelopment to allow residential use or other business uses subject to gaining relevant consents. Prospective purchasers are advised to check access provision, site plans and boundaries, the details of which are included within the title pack which can be obtained from the seller’s solicitors.
